As a part of HDTV group's research on digital TV transmission technology, this paper introduces a transmission scheme of advanced digital TV broadcasting system jointly proposed and developed by Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Xidian University. The scheme exceeds the existing foreign digital TV standards in terms of function and performance, and can achieve stable wireless fixed, portable and mobile reception of large-capacity broadcast data under the premise of using civil tuner, support single frequency network and the same channel forwarding, including efficient digital cable broadcast transmission mode, easy to comply with foreign standards. This is one of the ideal candidates for digital TV broadcasting standard in our country.

Tuner is the physical bottleneck of digital TV terrestrial broadcasting system

The phase noise, dynamic range, level control range and response speed of tuner are the physical bottlenecks of DTV terrestrial broadcasting system. The development of tuner technology will be slow and long, and modern digital signal processing technology is difficult to directly apply to the tuner, and the system should be designed based on the characteristics of the tuner. This is especially true of chip tuner technology for low power consumption, small size, and high performance.

Signal processing is the core of digital television terrestrial broadcasting system

By processing the received signal, using the auxiliary information carried in the transmitted signal, using advanced algorithms to realize carrier recovery, clock recovery, system synchronization and channel equalization is the core of ensuring the normal operation of the system in the environment of terrestrial broadcasting.

Information processing must be combined with signal processing

Information processing includes channel coding (internal code, external code), interweaving, scrambling and other functions. In most existing communication systems, information processing is independent of signal processing, and signal processing does not get any help from information processing. In the bad channel environment, because the signal processing does not get the gain of information processing, it is often unable to provide the normal working environment required for information processing, and the system is difficult to obtain the optimal performance.
